The Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel Nr. 1 Ballpoint Pen is a refillable metal ballpoint inspired by writing instruments from the 1920s. Its hexagonal barrel and slim tapered tip give it a distinctive look, with the tip and twist mechanism picked out in a contrasting colour.
Precision-milled from aluminium and brass, then lacquered and sealed, it sits comfortably in the hand without feeling heavy. A twist extends and retracts the tip using a spring-loaded mechanism, so there’s no cap to lose. At 13 cm long, it fits neatly in a Leuchtturm1917 pen loop.
It comes with a Royal Blue medium (M) refill. The ink is document-proof to ISO 12757-2 and water-resistant, so it’s suitable for signatures, contracts and forms as well as everyday notes and journaling. When the ink runs out, it takes standard G2 (Parker-style) ballpoint refills, such as the Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel Nr. 1 ballpoint refill (medium). It’s a Red Dot Design Award winner and comes in a triangular gift box.
